This past Wednesday we used Psalm 36 to guide our prayer time together. We broke the text down into 3 parts and prayed up, in, and out for some specific things. Take some time at home to meditate on the scripture and on our God and His steadfast love. May we draw closer to Him and enjoy his abundant provision for our souls and rejoice in his fountain of life!
Below is the text of Psalm 36 and at the bottom is the prayer guide. Take some time to read and pray at home today!
Prayer 1 –
36 Transgression speaks to the wicked
deep in his heart;
there is no fear of God
before his eyes.
2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes
that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated.
3 The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit;
he has ceased to act wisely and do good.
4 He plots trouble while on his bed;
he sets himself in a way that is not good;
he does not reject evil.
Pray UP – For the forgiveness of our transgressions against God and praise Him for the gift forgiveness in Jesus
Pray IN – That we be a group of people who fear God and pursue holiness as the body of Christ
Pray OUT – For the opportunities we have to speak to the Goodness of God to the world and that we may be a witness to others of the holiness of God.
Prayer 2 –
5 Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
your judgments are like the great deep;
man and beast you save, O Lord.
Pray UP – That we would pursue, see, and experience God’s steadfast love and that it would draw us closer to Him
Pray IN – That we as a church would have compassion and faithfulness to demonstrate God’s love inside our body
Pray OUT – That we would where the Lord would draw people in to the “mountain of God” for worship and that people would hear and see the Lord saves
Prayer 3-
7 How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
8 They feast on the abundance of your house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights.
9 For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light do we see light.
10 Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you,
and your righteousness to the upright of heart!
11 Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me,
nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12 There the evildoers lie fallen;
they are thrust down, unable to rise.
Pray UP – That we would learn to treasure the steadfast love of God in our life and it would be precious to us.
Pray IN – That we would take refuge in the “shadow of God’s wings” and Faith would be a place of rest for the body and restoration with God and others
Pray OUT– For a greater love for the lost and for people in your life who you know need the love of the Lord for forgiveness and new life.
