But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.
Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.
(1 Corinthians 12: 24-27)
Why Church Membership?
At Faith Baptist Church we affirm the value of Christians being members of a local church. Membership in a church is not like membership to social clubs or gyms in order to get some kind of rights or privileges to an organization.
The scripture often uses the illustration of the church being a body. Being a church member means you are connected with the body of Christ and you get to work with, support, care for, and be support by the other members of that body as we worship and serve Jesus.
The Bible teaches us that Christians are supposed to live in community with one another. We are not off in this world, nor in the one to come, on our own. Practicing church membership says we commit as followers of Jesus to coming together regularly for our mutual blessing and spiritual growth.
"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
(Hebrews 10: 23-25)
Who can become a member?
Membership at Faith is open to anyone who has confessed that Jesus is Lord and believes in their heart that God has raised him from the dead for the forgiveness of sin and has been baptized upon that profession of faith.
How do I become a member?
New members classes are hosted at various times through the year and take place during the Community Group time on Sunday mornings.
During these classes we go over the church's mission and vision, the statement of faith, what it means to be a Christian, and what it means to be a member of the church.
If you would like to become a member at Faith please speak with one of the pastors or fill out the interest card below to get signed up and we will connect with you about the next class.
