During our prayer time on Wednesday April 1st we turned our attention to Psalm 144. In our usual pattern we used the words of this Psalm to guide our prayers according to the words of the scripture. If you weren’t able to make it, take some time to read the word and pray right where you are!
Prayer 1 –
My Rock and My Fortress
Of David.
144 Blessed be the Lord, my rock,
who trains my hands for war,
and my fingers for battle;
2 he is my steadfast love and my fortress,
my stronghold and my deliverer,
my shield and he in whom I take refuge,
who subdues peoples under me.
3 O Lord, what is man that you regard him,
or the son of man that you think of him?
4 Man is like a breath;
his days are like a passing shadow.
Pray UP – and praise the Lord for his steadfast love and that he would help see the strength we have in his fortress and deliverance.
Pray IN – that people at Faith would be a place of refuge and care, that we would emulate in this community the love our Lord shows us.
Pray OUT – For opportunities to share the good news of Jesus with people around us, areas around the church neighborhood or in the areas God has placed us, so they too would receive this hope as they are confronted by the shortness and uncertainty of this life.
Prayer 2 –
5 Bow your heavens, O Lord, and come down!
Touch the mountains so that they smoke!
6 Flash forth the lightning and scatter them;
send out your arrows and rout them!
7 Stretch out your hand from on high;
rescue me and deliver me from the many waters,
from the hand of foreigners,
8 whose mouths speak lies
and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
9 I will sing a new song to you, O God;
upon a ten-stringed harp I will play to you,
10 who gives victory to kings,
who rescues David his servant from the cruel sword.
11 Rescue me and deliver me
from the hand of foreigners,
whose mouths speak lies
and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
Pray UP – and thank the Lord for coming down and that he would remind us that his Holy Spirit is present with us, so that we would learn to commune with him.
Pray IN – for a heart in the church to sing a new song to God and remind us of his victories in and through the life of Faith Baptist church. Praise him now for a time we have seen his faithfulness to us as a church.
Pray OUT – that the glory of the Lord, who delivers his people from their enemies, would be on our lips and he would give us words to speak and hearts that do not fear man.
Prayer 3 –
12 May our sons in their youth
be like plants full grown,
our daughters like corner pillars
cut for the structure of a palace;
13 may our granaries be full,
providing all kinds of produce;
may our sheep bring forth thousands
and ten thousands in our fields;
14 may our cattle be heavy with young,
suffering no mishap or failure in bearing;
may there be no cry of distress in our streets!
15 Blessed are the people to whom such blessings fall!
Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord!
Pray UP – That the Lord would help us to rest in him so we can learn to trust in his provision and care.
Pray IN – that the Lord would make the “graineries” of faith be full, both in our practical needs and in our spiritual needs, especially that our sons and daughters would grow like plants full grown and be blessed by the body of Christ
Pray OUT – Pray for the blessings of the Gospel to be proclaimed from the people here and that God would open doors to new opportunities to see many blessed because they have become the people whose God is the Lord!
Pray for the needs of the people of Faith….
Pray for this Psalm to dwell in our hearts and to remind us of who our God is
