Nehemiah 8:13-18
Prayer – for the Word of God to change us and transform us so that we would have joyful obedience through our faith in Christ.
Nehemiah 8:13-18
Discussion
- What stood out to us from the passage?
- What stood out to us from the sermon?
- What did the people discover written in the law in Nehemiah 8?
- What is their response?
- What can we learn from the response of the people here?
- What do we think of when we hear the word “obedience”?
- What are our thoughts when we hear something like “obey God’s word”?
- How do we do this (obedience) right and how do we do this wrong?
- Why is ignoring Christ’s commands just as wrong as trying to use them as a way to earn or keep salvation?
Application
- Nehemiah 8 sees a group of people at a time in their life with a great passion to know and obey God by following his word. What evidence do we have in our lives that tells us we desire to intimately know God’s word?
- If we find that lacking in our lives, how do we see that improve?
- The celebration of the feast is done together as a community. Why is our involvement in the community of faith, that is the church, so important to our spiritual lives?
