2. If you asked 100 people on the street who Jesus is and why he came to this earth 2000 years ago, what would they say about him?

- Why are there so many different answers?
- How should these differing answers cause us to think about the authority of scripture and why?
- What section of scripture does John 1:1-3 parallel (Genesis 1)? What does this tell us about the identity and characteristics of Jesus?
- Who is the man named John in v6? What is his role and why is this important prophetically?

- We probably don’t think about the prophetic importance every day, so why does it matter that Christians say Jesus fulfilled at least 300 Old Testament prophecies?
- What is the true light of v9 that was coming into the world?

- How does Jesus as the “Light of all mankind” provide guidance in our daily living?
- According to the passage, how does one gain the right to become children of God?

- What does it mean and what does it look to “believe in his name”?

- How does the Incarnation influence our understanding of God’s love and closeness to humanity?
- Why do we take time like today to read these passages and understand what it is God is teaching us about himself? Is this purely academic or are we seeking something else?
